New Year! New Hair!!
Here are some great tips I've picked up over the year of 2011!
During the year I've learned that California's water can be pretty harsh on our hair. Along with dry weather and a lot of heat in California it's very important to keep your hair  moisturized.
Keeping your hair moisturized starts with conditioning. I found that many people don't use regular, rinse-out conditioners every time they wash their hair. Even using a small amount of rinse-out conditioners every time you wash your hair will help keep split ends away and protect your hair from breakage at the ends. Using products on wet hair will protect your hair from heat damage during styling and keep it moisturized throughout the day. Deep conditioners are a great way to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. Some of my clients mentioned that it makes their hair look oily by the end of the day, so they don't usually use it. To keep the leave-in conditioners from having this effect on your hair apply most of it to the ends. With many leave-in conditioners using a little bit goes a long way, so take a dime to a quarter size dot in betweens your palms and apply to the ends of your hair while it's still wet. Using this technique will keep the leave-in conditioner away from your roots and won't give your hair that oily shine effect.  This can also be used for serums or oils for your hair. My favorite products this past year have been Zerran Equalizer which is a leave-in OR rinse conditioner,  and CHI Silk Infusion which is an oil i use on the ends of my hair. Both of these products give my hair great shine and keeps my hair incredibly soft.
Growing out your hair can be a long process sometimes. To help grow out long healthy locks it is important to condition and trim regularly. It does seem silly to regularly cut your hair if you want it to grow but if you have dead, split ends its breaking upwards on your hair shaft keeping your hair at the same length. Often times people will you between 4-8 weeks between haircuts, and if you get a haircut and deep condition regularly you'll love the end result when you have long healthy hair!
I hope everyone has a happy 2012!!! More tips and DEALS to come!!
